HubSpot vs Pipedrive

One of these is free until your team outgrows it. The other charges from day one and is cheaper the moment you have three salespeople. Which is right depends almost entirely on your headcount.

The short answer

Under three people, HubSpot wins because it costs nothing. At three or more, Pipedrive is cheaper — $14 a seat against HubSpot's $20 — and it is the better tool for pure sales. HubSpot is the better tool if you also do marketing.

Read from each company's own pricing page in US dollars on 8 September 2026. Pipedrive's $14 is the annual rate. HubSpot advertises Starter from $7 a seat, but that is a limited-time offer for new customers only — $20 is the standard rate you will renew at.

The maths changes at three people

HubSpot's free plan covers two users. That is genuinely free, with no time limit and no card. For a solo consultant or a two-person shop it is hard to argue with.

Add a third person and HubSpot stops being free. You move to Starter at $20 a seat, which is $60 a month for three. The same three seats on Pipedrive Lite cost $42. Over a year that is a $216 difference for software that does the sales job better.

Watch HubSpot's $7 offer

The $7 a seat price is for new customers for a limited time. Budget on $20, because that is what the renewal costs. A CRM is not something you switch every year, so plan for the standard rate rather than the introductory one.

They are not really the same product

Pipedrive is a sales pipeline with a CRM attached. Deals move through stages and everything is built around that board, which is why salespeople tend to actually use it. If your problem is deals going cold, this is the shape of tool that fixes it.

HubSpot is a platform. The CRM is the free doorway into marketing, service and content tools that share one contact database. If you send email campaigns, run forms or want the same record to cover marketing and sales, that matters more than the price gap.

Which one fits you

  • Solo or two people — HubSpot. Pay nothing.
  • A small sales team — Pipedrive, cheaper per seat and better at the job.
  • You do marketing as well as sales — HubSpot, the shared database is the point.
  • You want the pipeline to be the whole product — Pipedrive.
  • You are testing an idea — HubSpot free beats a 14-day trial.

How we compared them

We read both pricing pages on the same day and compared the entry paid plan each company promotes, plus HubSpot's free tier. The team-size table is our arithmetic from those rates. We have not run a sales team on either product, so nothing here is a verdict on daily use.

Frequently asked questions

Is HubSpot CRM really free?

Yes, for up to two users with a 1,000 contact limit and no time limit or card required. It stops being free at three users, where Starter costs $20 a seat.

Is Pipedrive cheaper than HubSpot?

Per seat, yes. Pipedrive Lite is $14 a seat annually against HubSpot Starter at $20. HubSpot is cheaper only while you fit inside its free plan of two users.

Why does Pipedrive show $14 and then charge more?

$14 is the annual rate. Paying monthly costs $19 a seat. The saving for paying a year upfront is real, so check which one you are being quoted at checkout.

Does Pipedrive have a free plan?

No. There is a 14-day trial with no card required, then you pay. If you need free indefinitely, HubSpot or Zoho are the options.

Which is easier to learn?

Pipedrive, because it does less. The pipeline is the product and most people understand it in an afternoon. HubSpot has more to explore, which is useful later and heavier at the start.
